The hatches between the spacecraft and station will open at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The arrival of Vande Hei, Acaba and Misurkin restores the station&#8217;s crew to six, as they join Expedition 53 Commander Randy Bresnik of NASA and Flight Engineers Sergey Ryazanskiy of Roscosmos and Paolo Nespoli of ESA (European Space Agency.) Highlights of upcoming investigations include demonstrating the benefits of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission_pages\/station\/research\/experiments\/2421.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission_pages\/station\/research\/experiments\/2421.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1505369076216000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFrXOAUnxU__zCkqcRch1MgNXx5lA\">manufacturing fiber optic filaments<\/a>\u00a0in a microgravity environment, a new study looking to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission_pages\/station\/research\/experiments\/2465.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission_pages\/station\/research\/experiments\/2465.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1505369076217000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFfBn9mOAZNWDmtVGdpdBGj8R4u4Q\">slow or reverse muscle atrophy<\/a>\u00a0in astronauts during spaceflight, and exploring the ability of a synthetic bone material that adheres bone to metal within minutes to accelerate bone repair.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The crew members also are scheduled to receive Orbital ATK\u2019s next\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission_pages\/station\/structure\/launch\/overview.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission_pages\/station\/structure\/launch\/overview.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1505369076217000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF9kMnuNjgnuNOxZNITbEEJOHC4VA\">commercial resupply<\/a>\u00a0mission in November, delivering several tons of research, supplies and vehicle hardware.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For more than 16 years, humans have lived and worked continuously aboard the International Space Station, advancing scientific knowledge and demonstrating new technologies, making research breakthroughs not possible on Earth that will enable long-duration human and robotic exploration into deep space.
