{"id":21850,"date":"2021-11-28T10:32:23","date_gmt":"2021-11-28T04:47:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/?p=21850"},"modified":"2021-11-28T10:37:59","modified_gmt":"2021-11-28T04:52:59","slug":"new-opportunity-for-students-to-learn-about-spacecraft-communications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/new-opportunity-for-students-to-learn-about-spacecraft-communications\/","title":{"rendered":"Opportunity for students to learn about spacecraft communications"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>European Space Agency (ESA)\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.esa.int\/Education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Education\u00a0Office<\/a> is looking for university engineering students who would like to be introduced to the fascinating world of spacecraft communications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to ESA the Ladybird Guide to Spacecraft Communications Training Course 2022 will be held as an online training course from the 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0of February to the 4<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of March 2022 in the afternoons (CET).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This training course will consist of formal lectures with lots of interaction with the students and will be provided by an ESA Engineer belonging to the Advanced Mission Concepts and Management Support Office of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/Enabling_Support\/Operations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mission Operations<\/a>\u00a0Department of ESOC, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/About_Us\/ESOC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Space Operations Centre<\/a>\u00a0in Darmstadt, Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/esa-education-675x490.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21851\" width=\"846\" height=\"614\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/esa-education-675x490.png 675w, https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/esa-education-551x400.png 551w, https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/esa-education-160x116.png 160w, https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/esa-education.png 689w\" \/><figcaption><em>ESA<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the lectures, the students will be asked to apply their gained knowledge during a challenging group project. The students will also learn about ESA\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/About_Us\/Corporate_news\/ESEC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European space Security and Education Centre<\/a>\u00a0(ESEC) and the activities performed on-site, including\u00a0Galileo\u00a0and\u00a0PROBA\u00a0spacecraft\u2019s operations stated in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the training course, the students will have a solid understanding of the challenges of communicating with a spacecraft and the subsystems involved in communications (both on-board and on the ground): what can go wrong, troubleshooting, and traps to be avoided during operations and testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to ESA students enrolled in university\u00a0from being a citizen of an\u00a0<a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/Education\/ESA_Academy\/Online_Ladybird_Guide_to_Spacecraft_Communications_Training_Course_2022_Student_application_form\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer
