{"id":23634,"date":"2022-11-24T11:18:23","date_gmt":"2022-11-24T05:33:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/?p=23634"},"modified":"2022-11-24T11:18:57","modified_gmt":"2022-11-24T05:33:57","slug":"sutd-faculty-named-among-worlds-most-cited-researchers-in-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/sutd-faculty-named-among-worlds-most-cited-researchers-in-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"SUTD\u00a0Faculty\u00a0Named\u00a0Among\u00a0World&#8217;s\u00a0Most\u00a0Cited\u00a0Researchers\u00a0in\u00a02022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/epd.sutd.edu.sg\/people\/faculty\/chua-chee-kai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Chua Chee Kai<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/epd.sutd.edu.sg\/people\/faculty\/yuen-chau\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associate Professor Yuen Chau<\/a>, from the Engineering Product Development (EPD) pillar at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), are listed as <a href=\"https:\/\/clarivate.com\/highly-cited-researchers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Highly Cited Researchers\u2122 (HCR) 2022.<\/a>\u00a0They were named the world\u2019s influential researchers under the categories of cross-field and computer science respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Clarivate Plc, Highly Cited Researchers are 1 in 1,000 of the world\u2019s population of scientists and social scientists. Researchers on this prestigious list have demonstrated significant and broad influence reflected in their publication of multiple highly cited papers, which rank in the top 1% for a field or fields in the Web of Science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2022 list includes 6,938 researchers from 69 countries or regions, and across a diverse range of research fields. Of these, 106 researchers are from Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/prof-chua-chee-kai-and-yuen-cau-675x325.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23635\" width=\"845\" height=\"407\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/prof-chua-chee-kai-and-yuen-cau-675x325.png 675w, https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/prof-chua-chee-kai-and-yuen-cau-768x370.png 768w, https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/prof-chua-chee-kai-and-yuen-cau-228x110.png 228w, https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/prof-chua-chee-kai-and-yuen-cau.png 1274w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof Chua is a leading expert in 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and additive manufacturing research. He was awarded the prestigious International Freeform and Additive Manufacturing Excellence (FAME) Award in 2018. Most recently, he was the Chair of the inaugural International Conference of Additive Manufacturing for a Better World 2022 at SUTD and published a textbook titled \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/sutd.edu.sg\/About\/happenings\/News\/2022\/5\/Book-on-Digital-Gastronomy-to-Be-Launched\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Digital Gastronomy &#8211; From 3D Food Printing to Personalised Nutrition<\/a>\u2019 with World Scientific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assoc Prof Yuen\u2019s research areas include 5G\/6G, wireless communications, Internet-of-Things, and smart grid. He is the recipient of Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal, Institution of Electrical Engineers Book Prize, Institute\u00a0of Engineering of Singapore Gold Medal, Merk Sharp &amp; Dohme Gold Medal, and twice the recipient of the Hewlett Packard Prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both Prof Chua and Assoc Prof Yuen are also within the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sutd.edu.sg\/About\/happenings\/News\/2022\/11\/29-percent-SUTD-Faculty-Top-Scientists-Globally\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">top 2% of scientists globally according to a database by Stanford University and Elsevier BV<\/a>. A total of 29% of SUTD faculty were among the list of top 2% scientists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sutd.edu.sg\/About-Us\/News-and-Events\/News\/2020\/11\/SUTD-Professor-Highly-Cited-Researcher-Fifth-Year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Tony Quek<\/a>, SUTD\u2019s Head of Pillar for Information Systems Technology and Design, topped the Highly Cited Researchers list in the field of Computer Science for five consecutive years from 2016 to 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBeing a young university of 13 years has not stopped SUTD from producing three of the world\u2019s highly cited researchers by adding two to the tally this year. This is the 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0time that SUTD has been placed on this annual list. As a research-intensive university, this is indeed a strong testament to SUTD\u2019s commitment to driving innovations that address the challenges of society to better the world,\u201d said Prof Chua, who is also the Associate Provost for Research at SUTD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am honored that our future forward research in wireless communications is attracting the attention of the scientific community.
