{"id":26015,"date":"2025-05-04T11:40:33","date_gmt":"2025-05-04T05:55:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/?p=26015"},"modified":"2025-05-04T21:31:43","modified_gmt":"2025-05-04T15:46:43","slug":"rare-cancer-synovial-sarcoma-reduced-using-plasma-activated-medium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/rare-cancer-synovial-sarcoma-reduced-using-plasma-activated-medium\/","title":{"rendered":"Rare cancer synovial sarcoma reduced using plasma-activated medium"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"732\" height=\"520\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 732px) 100vw, 732px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/PAM-.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26020\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/PAM-.jpg 732w, https:\/\/www.revoscience.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/PAM--675x480.jpg 675w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Osaka Metropolitan University research team has found that plasma-activated medium (PAM) shows tumor-fighting effects against the rare form of cancer known as synovial sarcoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group irradiated a mammalian cell culture medium with&nbsp;non-thermal atmospheric-pressure plasma to produce PAM and conducted in vitro tests using human cells and in vivo tests using mice with this type of soft tissue sarcoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate School of Medicine student\u00a0Hana Yao, Associate Professor Hiromitsu Toyoda, and Professor Hiroaki Nakamura, and Graduate School of Engineering Professor\u00a0Jun-Seok Oh\u00a0were part of the team that verified the effects of PAM on synovial sarcoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Human synovial sarcoma cells exposed to PAM prepared with 5 minutes of plasma irradiation had only a 21% survival rate compared to the control.
