Kathmandu– Rabin Dhakal and Sirapa Shrestha, students of Institute of\u00a0Engineering(IoE )Pulchowk Campus, participated in Capstone design context-CORE 15\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0has been awarded\u00a0with the “special award” for their project entitled\u00a0\u201cDesign Optimization of basin and testing of runner for Gravitational Water Vortex power plant\u201d in Korea. “The team was praised and succeeded to receive\u00a0an outstanding response from the jury members” said Rabin \u00a0Dhakal.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The team has participated with their project in the competition\u00a0‘International Conference on Renewable Energy Technology CORE-2015′\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0representing Nepal along with other 72 projects from various nations which was held in \u00a0Mokpo National University, Mokpo, South Korea<\/span>\u00a0.\u00a0<\/span>The research team successfuly demonstrate about\u00a0\u00a0creating a new and innovative technology addressing the current energy crisis in Nepal.”Our Team including 9 students and 3 professors has developed a new micro hydro power plant that is efficiently applicable in low head region like the Terai Region. The success can be a revolution in electrifying various rural communities of the country” added Rabin Dhakal.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Briefing about the project\u00a0Rabin explained about the Gravitational Water Vortex Power Plant\u00a0which\u00a0is based on the principle of converting the potential energy of water with a powerful (GWV) in a rotation tank to kinetic energy. Rabin said “While participating in the CORE 2015 representing research,\u00a0development\u00a0and promotion team of 7 of Nepal among various\u00a0other participants around the globe indeed was a great honor for me”. Also he showed his excitement being internationally recognize through this researched based competition.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Rabin said that so held\u00a0Capstone renewable energy design contest was one of the achievement for the entire researcher team \u00a0which helped them to pay off all the hard work they had done.At the end\u00a0he said\u00a0“We will be able to lead the globe in research and development if only we focus on the research based on technology that we have within Nepal.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
