This poses a challenge, as\u00a0previous\u00a0meta-analyses on laser treatment research did not account for proper laser irradiation levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, such analyses included results from cases with over- and under-irradiation, prompting the need for a more\u00a0accurate\u00a0evaluation.<br \/><br \/>A research team led by Postdoctoral Fellow Yu\u00a0Shimojo, Specially Appointed Professor Toshiyuki Ozawa, and Professor Daisuke Tsuruta from the Graduate School of Medicine developed the Excessive Setting Index of Clinical Fluence (EICF) indicator\u00a0using an in-silico mathematical model\u00a0to\u00a0determine the appropriate laser\u00a0irradiation conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on this index, the irradiation parameters used in clinical practice were evaluated. The team\u00a0then\u00a0conducted a meta-analysis\u00a0on\u00a0treatment\u00a0studies that were consistent with theoretical irradiation conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of\u00a0nevus of\u00a0Ota, a comparison of PSL and nanosecond laser (NSL) treatments revealed that PSL treatment\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0higher efficacy and equivalent safety under proper conditions.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>\u201cThis achievement provides scientific evidence that answers questions such as \u2018Why was it effective?\u2019 and \u2018Why did side effects occur?\u2019 in PSL treatment,\u201d said Dr.\u00a0Shimojo. He concluded, \u201cAlthough further verification is needed, we hope EICF can be used to ensure safer and more effective laser irradiation conditions.\u201d\u00a0<br \/>The findings were published
