KATHMANDU \u2013<\/strong> Dongfeng Motor said it has successfully completed winter validation for its first electro\u2011mechanical braking (EMB) mass\u2011production project, marking a milestone in the company\u2019s brake\u2011by\u2011wire technology development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tests, jointly conducted by Dongfeng\u2019s General R&D Center and Yipai Technology, confirmed the EMB system meets production standards for braking on low\u2011friction surfaces, placing its maturity among the industry\u2019s leading solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike conventional hydraulic systems, EMB eliminates brake fluid and hydraulic lines, using an electronic control unit to drive the motor directly. Dongfeng said the system offers faster response compared with mainstream one\u2011box hydraulic brake\u2011by\u2011wire systems. A triple\u2011protection mechanism has been added, allowing the front calipers to be activated via the brake light switch even if both primary and secondary controllers fail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EMB technology has become a focal point in the brake\u2011by\u2011wire chassis sector, with challenges including motor control precision, algorithm adaptability, redundancy architecture, and stability under extreme conditions. Dongfeng has filed more than 20 patents in the field, building what it calls a proprietary technology ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company said the system passed critical validations at minus 30\u00b0C, including low\u2011friction braking control, low\u2011temperature reliability, and stability on ice and snow. Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) performance and braking smoothness also met engineering maturity standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
