Delivering the keynote address, Dr Robert Califf spoke on the sweeping changes and opportunities transforming medicine, healthcare, and biomedical science.

The Class of 2026 comprised 72 graduates from the MD programme, six MD-PhD graduates, 38 PhD graduates across Integrated Biology and Medicine, Quantitative Biology and Medicine, and Clinical and Translational Sciences, as well as 19 graduates from the Master’s in Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality.

Reflecting the school’s graduate-entry ethos, the cohort brought with them backgrounds spanning engineering, product development, computer science, multimedia, business, accountancy, linguistics, psychology, history, communications, literature, and the sciences. Among the MD graduands, there was an even split of 39 men and 39 women.

Research remains a defining feature of Duke-NUS. Students devote their third year entirely to research, and the Class of 2026 leaves behind a substantial body of published work — 71 papers in journals including Cell, The Lancet Microbe, Nature Communications, and npj Digital Medicine.

One standout study, led by MD-PhD graduate Charles Kevin Dee Tiu, developed a rapid test to identify infection-blocking antibodies within hours, aiding Singapore’s COVID-19 response. Published in Nature Biotechnology, the paper has been cited more than 1,300 times.

Community service also featured prominently. Students participated in at least 14 projects, from overseas medical missions in Nepal and Sri Lanka to local initiatives such as Healthy-To-Thrive, which provides chronic disease screening for migrant workers, and Camp SIMBA, an annual camp for children whose loved ones are living with cancer.

Graduating speaker Dr Jiang Qianfeng underscored the class’s commitment: “Medicine doesn’t start and end within hospital walls. These experiences strengthened our resolve to serve wherever the need is greatest.”

Among the initiatives launched during their time was Project WISE (Women’s Integrated Screening & Education), offering screenings and education on women’s health issues, spearheaded by MD graduand Dr Chan Kai Lin.

Professor Tan reflected on the school’s founding mission: “It was to create something different by design — a graduate-entry medical school that brings together the strengths of Duke and NUS and is deeply embedded in Singapore’s healthcare system through SingHealth. That vision is reflected in this class.”

As his first graduating class as Dean, the Class of 2026 signals Duke-NUS’ trajectory: producing doctors and scientists equipped not only for clinical practice but also for research, innovation, and the broader challenges shaping healthcare today.

Singapore — Duke-NUS Medical School marked a milestone on Saturday with its largest graduating cohort to date, as 135 students received their degrees in a ceremony that highlighted the school’s distinctive graduate-entry model and its growing role in Singapore’s healthcare landscape.

[18

post-38216","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-education
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1.webp",1100,733,false
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-200x200.webp",200,200,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-675x450.webp",675,450,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-768x512.webp",750,500,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1.webp",750,500,false],"1536x1536":["https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1.webp",1100,733,false],"2048x2048":["https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1.webp",1100,733,false
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1.webp",1100,733,false
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-870x570.webp",870,570,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-600x733.webp",600,733,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-600x600.webp",600,600,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-760x490.webp",760,490,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-550x360.webp",550,360,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-95x65.webp",95,65,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-640x733.webp",640,733,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-96x96.webp",96,96,true
https://www.revoscience.com/en/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-150x100.webp",150,100,true
RevoScience
["GET
