The number of entries rose 40% from last year, with 38% of participants being schoolgirls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">India\u2019s \u201cattoPION\u201d and T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s \u201cPionIST 3\u201d teams will travel to CERN in August to carry out their experiments. The UK\u2019s \u201cMobile MIPs\u201d and the US \u201cCentauri Stars\u201d will work at DESY in Hamburg, while Bangladesh\u2019s \u201cPOLARIS\u201d will conduct research at the University of Bonn\u2019s ELSA accelerator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCERN\u2019s mission has always been to advance science and inspire the generation that will carry it forward,\u201d said Ursula Bassler, CERN\u2019s Director for Stakeholder Relations. \u201cThis year\u2019s successful participation shows that interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics is growing all over the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The BL4S programme, launched in 2014, allows school teams to propose experiments using accelerator beamlines. DESY has hosted winners since 2019, while Bonn joined in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beate Heinemann, Chair of DESY\u2019s Board of Directors, said she was \u201cthrilled to see this enthusiasm for research\u201d as the Hamburg facility prepares to welcome two teams.
