Studies have shown CGRP can signal pain when the chemical enters the blood stream or appears between nerves, but can also serve as a migraine trigger too in certain patients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">Companies like Teva and Eli Lilly are exploring monoclonal antibody injections as a viable treatment route. Teva\u2019s candidate\u00a0<a style=\"color: #bf3b41;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2015-07-21\/there-s-hope-beyond-botox-as-pharma-races-for-first-migraine-fix?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">demonstrated<\/span><\/a>\u00a0efficacy against chronic and episodic headaches, but Eli Lilly\u2019s migraine drug has shown promise in treating a\u00a0<a style=\"color: #bf3b41;\" href=\"https:\/\/investor.lilly.com\/releasedetail.cfm?releaseid=918405&amp;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">rare condition<\/span><\/a>called cluster headaches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\"><em>WSJ\u00a0<\/em>added that regulatory approval for these antibodies is projected to happen in 2018 as long as these drugs continue to show a high safety profile in clinical tests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">A refined treatment for migraines would be a huge help for patients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">An estimated 36 million Americans suffer from the disorder.
