NASA&#8217;s Aqua satellite captured an image that showed the effects of the shear on Oct. 29.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer aboard NASA&#8217;s Aqua satellite captured an image of Tropical Cyclone Nilofar on Oct. 29 at 09:00 UTC (5 a.m. EDT). Tropical Cyclone Nilofar is moving through the Arabian Sea. The image shows that clouds were being pushed to the northeast of the center of the storm, from strong southwesterly wind shear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Oct. 29 at 1500 UTC (11 a.m. EDT), Nilofar had maximum sustained winds near 90 knots (103.6 mph\/166.7 kph) and slow weakening is expected over the next couple of days. Nilofar was centered near 19.5 north latitude and 62.5 east longitude, about 205 nautical miles (236 miles\/380 km) east-southeast of Masirah Island. Source: rsmcnewdelhi.imd.gov.in\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">India&#8217;s Regional Specialized Meteorological Service or RSMC forecast said Cyclone Nilofar is expected to move northeastward and cross north Gujarat and the adjoining Pakistan coast around Naliya by the night time hours on Oct. 31, but as it approaches the Gujarat Coast it is expected to weaken to a depression.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Although one of the computer forecast models calls for dry air to move into the system and possible dissipate it over the ocean, the consensus suggests a landfall. The Joint Typhoon Warning Center forecast calls for Nilofar to weaken to a tropical storm and make landfall near the India\/Pakistan border late on Oct. 31 (UTC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Word power :<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Wind shear<b>: Wind shear<\/b>, sometimes referred to as\u00a0<b>windshear<\/b>\u00a0or\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Wind gradient\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wind_gradient\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wind gradient<\/a>, is a difference in\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Wind\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wind\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wind<\/a>\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Wind speed\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wind_speed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">speed<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Wind direction\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wind_direction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">direction<\/a>\u00a0over a relatively short distance in the\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Earth&#039;s atmosphere\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Earth%27s_atmosphere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">atmosphere<\/a>. Wind shear can be broken down into vertical and horizontal components, with horizontal wind shear seen across\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Weather front\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Weather_front\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fronts<\/a>\u00a0and near the coast, and vertical shear typically near the surface, though also at higher levels in the atmosphere near upper level jets and frontal zones aloft.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Wind shear itself is a\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Microscale meteorology\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Microscale_meteorology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">microscale meteorological<\/a>\u00a0phenomenon occurring over a very small distance, but it can be associated with\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Mesoscale meteorology\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mesoscale_meteorology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mesoscale<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Synoptic scale\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Synoptic_scale\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">synoptic scale<\/a>weather features such as squall lines and cold fronts. It is commonly observed near\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Microburst\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Microburst\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">microbursts<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Downburst\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Downburst\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">downbursts<\/a>\u00a0caused by\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Thunderstorm\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Thunderstorm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thunderstorms<\/a>, fronts, areas of locally higher low level winds referred to as low level jets, near\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Mountain\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mountain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mountains<\/a>, radiation inversions that occur due to clear skies and calm winds, buildings, wind turbines, and sailboats. Wind shear has a significant effect during take-off and landing of aircraft due to its effects on control of the aircraft, and it has been a sole or contributing cause of many aircraft accidents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Sound movement through the atmosphere is affected by wind shear, which can bend the wave front, causing sounds to be heard where they normally would not, or vice versa. Strong vertical wind shear within the\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Troposphere\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Troposphere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">troposphere<\/a>\u00a0also inhibits\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Tropical cyclone\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tropical_cyclone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tropical cyclone<\/a>\u00a0development, but helps to organize individual thunderstorms into longer life cycles which can then produce\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0b0080;\" title=\"Severe weather\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Severe_weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe weather<\/a>.
