Notable adverse events were headaches and nausea, but were classified as mild warranting further examination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[pullquote]The drug is intended to relieve patients who experience pain, without inducing the psychotropic side effects associated with marijuana.[\/pullquote]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>FierceBiotech<\/em>\u00a0<a style=\"color: #bf3b41;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fiercebiotech.com\/biotech\/arena%E2%80%99s-cannabinoid-pain-drug-passes-early-stage-test\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">reported<\/span><\/a>\u00a0this is an important win for Arena as the firm ousted CEO and co-founder Jack Lief and cut 80 jobs as part of a corporate restructuring last fall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Another factor that could speed this drug\u2019s approval is that Arena hopes APD371\u2019s ability to target the CB2 will limit the risk of abusing the compound.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Other companies exploring\u00a0<a style=\"color: #bf3b41;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dddmag.com\/news\/2016\/03\/cannabis-drug-reduces-epileptic-seizures-shows-clinical-trial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">cannabinoid-based drugs<\/span><\/a>\u00a0include GW Pharmaceuticals. Last month, the firm posted results for experimental seizure treatment Epidiolex.
