Kathmandu — The International Conference on Information, Communication Technology and Photonics (ICTP 2026) will be organized from February 11 to 14 at Hotel Hyatt Centric, Kathmandu. Organizers shared details of the event during a press briefing.

According to Er. Virodh Rizal, Secretary of the Research and Innovation Center for Nepal, the conference aims to enhance the quality of technical conferences and scientific publications in Nepal, while strengthening the culture of research within academic institutions. He noted that distinguished professors and researchers from Nepal, Korea, China, India, and Vietnam will participate and present their work.

Dr. Arun Timalsina, Chair of IEEE Nepal Section, stated that more than 150 research papers from international contributors will be presented. He emphasized the importance of IEEE in global technology standardization, quality measurement of research, and promotion of world-class conferences.

A highlight of the event will be a special workshop on Global Digital Innovation and Impact, organized by the School of Global Digital Innovation under the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). The workshop will bring together government officials, policymakers, and leaders in digital governance from various countries to discuss emerging policies, AI strategies, and cross-border collaboration.

Organizers stressed that the conference offers Nepal a rare opportunity to learn directly from global experts and identify new pathways for national digital transformation. Video messages from key speakers, including conference chair Prof. Dr. Vikas Nakarmi of Nanjing University, China, were also shared during the press event.

ICTP 2026 will feature diverse sessions designed to inspire innovation, strengthen global collaboration, and promote sustainable technological development through knowledge exchange. The event is expected to attract wide international participation.

The conference is supported by major universities, engineering colleges, the University Grants Commission, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, and several other national and international institutions. Organizers highlighted that it will serve as a dynamic platform for Nepali researchers to showcase high-quality and impactful work.

ICTP 2026 is jointly organized by the Research and Innovation Center Nepal (RICON) and Nepal Engineering College (NEC), with technical sponsorship from IEEE Nepal Chapter and the IEEE Photonics Society Nanjing Chapter.
