Kathmandu, March 25. Kumari Bank has officially launched its Master Debit Card. The card was introduced at a special event in the capital with the aim of making electronic payments more convenient and providing additional facilities to customers.

According to the bank, the Master Debit Card can currently be used in Nepal, India, and Bhutan. It is expected to strengthen digital banking services, secure internet payments, mobile banking, cardless banking, and online banking.

At the program, the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Ram Chandra Khanal, expressed that collaborating with Mastercard Technology to launch this card would help expand the global reach of the bank’s digital payment platform. He added that the card would provide customers with international payment experiences and play a significant role in digital transformation.

Similarly, Mastercard Vice President Pawan Sel stated that the company has been working in collaboration with Kumari Bank for the past two years and that this launch further strengthens their partnership.

Mastercard is a globally recognized card accepted in more than 210 countries. It is equipped with EMV smart chip technology, which is claimed to make cash payments and purchases more secure.

EMV stands for Europay, Mastercard, and Visa —the three companies that originally developed the global standard for smart chip technology in payment cards. These chips generate unique, encrypted codes for each transaction, making it difficult to counterfeit cards and offering greater security compared to traditional magnetic stripes.
