7 Seeking Breakthroughs in the Next Generation Battery Industry DGIST Hosts the 4th Forum on the Latest RD Trends in Secondary Batteries

Daegu, South KoreaThe Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), under the leadership of President Kunwoo Lee, is set to host the 4th Forum on the Latest Research and Development Trends in Secondary Batteries.

The two-day event will take place at the Convention Hall of DGIST Headquarters, bringing together top experts from industry, academia, and research institutions across Korea’s battery sector.

The forum will spotlight the future of next-generation battery technologies through a series of focused sessions on cathode and anode material development, innovations in battery architecture, and strategies for recycling secondary batteries. The agenda is designed to address key challenges and opportunities across the entire battery value chain.

A unique feature of this year’s forum is its dual focus on current commercial technologies and forward-looking innovations. Attendees will gain insights into cutting-edge material breakthroughs and research achievements that span both short-term applications and long-term possibilities.

“This forum holds great significance as it allows us to present and discuss pioneering research at the forefront of Korea’s secondary battery industry, while also envisioning its future trajectory,” said Professor Seung-tae Hong of DGIST’s Department of Energy Engineering.

DGIST also plans to use the forum as a platform to deepen collaborative ties with fellow research institutions UNIST and POSTECH. The goal is to lead national strategies in next-generation battery development and foster talent to support Korea’s growing energy technology sector.

The event underscores DGIST’s commitment to advancing battery innovation and shaping the future of sustainable energy solutions.
