LU and SZU sign Letter of Intent on Collaboration to nurture talent for GBA development

Lingnan University (LU) and Shenzhen University (SZU) signed a Letter of Intent(LOI) on Collaboration to foster academic cooperation in various areas on 25th May, 2021.

Andrew Yao Cho-fai, Council Chairman of Lingnan University and Li Qingquan, President of Shenzhen University, signed a Letter of Intent on Collaboration on behalf of LU and SZU.

They include offering of joint undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degree programs, undertaking research and development projects, and exploring the feasibility of establishing a joint campus in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) to nurture top-notch talent.

Based on their respective competitive undergraduate programmes and strengths, the two universities will jointly offer “2+2 Dual Undergraduate Degree Programmes” to meet the future development needs in the GBA.

According to press release students will spend the first two years at their home university and then another two years at the partner university. By employing all their  resources and strengths in postgraduate education, both parties will also offer joint master’s and doctoral degree programs to cultivate quality higher degree graduates.

To seize the opportunities arising from the development of the GBA, Lingnan University and SZU will jointly establish an Institute of Advanced Studies, academic center and an innovation center, apply for national and local funding for joint research projects, and promote R&D and technology transfer in industrial technologies.

In addition, the two parties will actively explore new modes of cooperation between Lingnan University and SZU as well as discuss the possibility and feasibility of setting up a joint campus in the GBA according to the relevant Government policies for cooperation in higher education.
